FORMAT –
While writing exercises are incorporated following read-aloud excerpts, the main focus of this seminar is the “21 Traits of Humanity”. Students are taught all of the things they have in themselves that help them be the best people they can be, culminating at CHOICES about ACTIONS, WORDS, and ATTITUDES. A number of interactive, brainstorming exercises lead participants of this assembly to identify each of these traits. Flip pads, visuals and a build-as-we-go trait chart aid the teaching.
TITLES INCOPRORATED –
By Reji Laberje, Cooper Ridge, The Wonder Kid. Plus, running throughout the assembly is a slideshow of well-known persons of great accomplishment in their various fields of expertise despite their handicaps, disabilities, or disadvantages.
INCLUSIONS –
Host organizations of assemblies receive free books; prizes to students, free bookmarks to all attendees, follow-along, and follow-up materials.
OTHER INFORMATION –
While this program has historically been used in an educational forum, its universal message of diversity, of human empowerment, and of the worth we all hold as individuals and as a population, make this an ideal program selection for any number of value-based organizations.
SUGGESTED ACCOMPANIMENT –
This is best when followed by the Six Senses and the Four ‘S’es Writers’ Workshop or the Drawing Fire Specialty Workshop if used for early grade levels. For older students who may partake in this assembly, any Specialty Workshop would be a great follow-on. For those groups using Wonder Kids strictly for its empowerment value, consider adding a Customizable Mini-Program and a Fund-READ-er!
