Set-Up!

Some authors expect...

ü  Schools to inform students of how to get the authors books on their own.

ü  Schools to provide presentation materials ranging from easels, to printed paperwork, to author writing utensils, and more.

ü  Specific ahead-of-time learning, based on teacher research and time to be done with all participating students.

ü  Schools to set up and decorate the presentation space, sometimes with a purchased "set-up" package.

With Reji Laberje Author Programs you have...

ü  A provided send-home letter for every student 1-2 weeks ahead and a provided send-home letter for every student 1-2 days ahead of time.

ü  Only to provide the space, a power outlet, your personalized schedule, and the students. Reji brings her own sound system, her own projector, provides all paperwork, and has her own flip charts, visuals, and slideshows.

ü  An author who believes it is her job to do the teaching when she comes. You will receive a checklist upon scheduling telling you just how little you'll need and including suggestions that you are welcome to (but not required to) use with your organization.

ü  To provide only approximately 30 minutes for Reji to do her own set-up.

Approach!

Reji Laberje uses the FULL-SENSORY Teaching Method.

In learning, your students will experience:

ü  Seeing - visual aids include flip charts, slideshows, writing in front of group, building charts together, and watching classmates.

ü  Hearing - a combination of music, storytelling, oral instruction, and selecting volunteers to answer questions.

ü  Doing - Numerous opportunities exist for students to participate in the demonstrations to create scenes, apply principles, write, and learn under the guise of FUN and GAMES!

Experiencing takes place through Reji's unique "Six Senses of Description":

ü  Throughout the demonstrations, students will often participate in activities targeted at focusing their energies on seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, or their thoughts and emotions. By including each of the senses in the presentation, the lessons taught are more likely to penetrate, fully affect, and be remembered - allowing for later application in classrooms and in life. If lessons taught are forgotten quickly, then they have not served their purpose.

In applying, your students will experience:

ü  Teaching - Reji Laberje books are used to present an idea. The students are provided with paperwork with which to follow along.

ü  Exemplifying - Students have demonstrations of the taught lessons through exercises and literary references. (Literary references are not just Reji Laberje works as Reji wants the students to leave with a connection, not a commercial!)

ü  Practicing - In addition to the follow-along materials, students are given take-to-the-classroom (and take-to-LIFE) ideas to be able to use the taught concepts in all subjects.
