SUBJECT MATTER –
The book process.
FORMAT –
Students begin by hearing part of a completed story and then, through author-led, student-participated, interactive exercises, they walk backwards through the book process. This backwards process includes editing, the six senses of description, creating magic moments, and the story formula. Additional exercises define alliteration and aid in title creation. Flip pads, visuals and a slideshow aid the teaching.
TITLES INCOPRORATED –
The Tale Travelers series of books by Reji Laberje with references to other fantastical fiction, to early chapter books, and to historical nonfiction.
INCLUSIONS –
Host organizations of assemblies receive free books; prizes to students, free bookmarks to all attendees, follow-along worksheet pamphlets, and follow-up materials.
