“Not only did she
display a singular talent for writing gentle verse but she kept her
whole audience…a group of adults…silently riveted with her clear and
tender presentation.”
-Matthew Scheer, Supervisor, Borders Books, Music, Movies & Café,
Public Reading Organizer on Reji’s reading of her original
children’s picture book, “Make Room for Jake McNair”.

Make Room for Jake McNair, a 533-word picture book, is the first in
a poetic picture-book series about a red-headed, freckle-faced
little boy. This story tells of a mother and father preparing a
room for the baby they finally get to meet in the end of the book.
The room begins empty and has a crib, rocking chair, dresser and
other items added but is not complete until it has its new
occupant. The Jake McNair series is full of warm rhyme, rhythm,
repetition and a sweet, relatable tale that creates beautiful
imagery.
